7 Worship Songs About The Worthiness Of God (He Deserves It All)
The English word “worship” comes from “worth-ship”—it literally means ascribing worth to something. When we gather to sing, we are answering the fundamental question of the universe: “Who is worthy?” Revelation 4:11 gives us the answer: “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power.”
Songs about the worthiness of God are the purest form of worship. They don’t ask for blessings, breakthrough, or guidance; they simply declare that God deserves it all. These anthems help the church take their eyes off their own needs and fix them entirely on the merit and beauty of Jesus.
Why These Songs Shift The Focus
We selected these songs because:
- They are selfless. They are not about us; they are 100% about Him.
- They are eternal. They use the language of heaven (“Worthy is the Lamb”) that we will be singing forever.
- They invite surrender. If He is truly worthy of everything, the only logical response is to give Him our lives.
7 Songs To Declare “You Are Worthy”
- Worthy Of It All – This song has defined a movement of adoration. It centers the room on the truth that “from You are all things, and to You are all things.” It is a simple, repetitive declaration that God deserves every ounce of our praise.
- Is He Worthy – This song builds a theological case for the worthiness of Christ. Through a call-and-response structure, it asks if anyone can open the scroll, leading the church to the triumphant conclusion: “He is!”
- Build My Life – The first verse is a litany of worthiness: “Worthy of every song… worthy of all the breath we could ever breathe.” It establishes Jesus’ value before asking Him to build our lives.
- Worthy Is The Lamb – “Thank you for the cross, Lord.” This classic song connects the worthiness of the Lamb directly to His sacrifice. It is a tender, gratitude-filled anthem perfect for communion.
- Revelation Song – “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain.” This song transports the congregation to the throne room of heaven. It allows us to join the elders and living creatures in their eternal song of worth.
- Agnus Dei – “Holy, Holy, are You Lord God Almighty.” Sometimes the best way to declare worth is to simply stare at His holiness. This song creates a spacious atmosphere for the church to marvel at the Lamb.
- Here I Am To Worship – “You’re altogether lovely, altogether worthy.” This song reminds us that Jesus didn’t just become worthy when He died; He was worthy before the world began. It is a humble response to His beauty.
Example Worthiness Setlists
Setlist 1 (The Song of Heaven)
- Revelation Song – Sets the scene of the throne room.
- Is He Worthy – Engages the mind and heart with the question of authority.
- Worthy Of It All – Ends with a singular focus on His glory.
Setlist 2 (Altogether Lovely)
- Build My Life – Declares Him worthy of every song.
- Here I Am To Worship – A personal response to His beauty.
- Agnus Dei – A holy moment of adoration.
How To Use These Songs In Your Church
- Explain the “Why.” Before singing Worthy Is The Lamb, remind the church *why* He is worthy. Read Revelation 5:9—”because you were slain and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe.”
- Encourage giving. Offering is an act of worship. Use Worthy Of It All (“From You are all things”) during the offering time to connect our financial giving with His worthiness.
- Let the music breathe. These songs shouldn’t be rushed. Allow instrumental space after the chorus of Agnus Dei for people to lift their own prayers of adoration.
Next Steps
Do you feel like your church treats God like a vending machine? This Sunday, use Worthy Of It All to flip the script. Remind your people that we exist for Him, not the other way around.
