7 Worship Songs For Evangelism (Sharing The Light)

The Great Commission is not a suggestion; it is a command to “go and make disciples.” While we often think of evangelism as something we do outside the church, worship songs can fuel our passion to share the Gospel before we ever leave the building. As Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.”

These songs are missional. They turn our focus outward, reminding us that we carry a message that the world desperately needs to hear. They are perfect for closing a service, sending the congregation out with a sense of purpose.

Why These Songs Send Us Out

We selected these songs because:

  • They are declarative. They don’t just speak to God; they speak about God to the nations.
  • They are expansive. They use language like “all the earth,” “every street,” and “whole world.”
  • They are empowering. They remind us that the power to witness comes from the Holy Spirit, not our own eloquence.

7 Songs To Shine The Light

  1. I Speak Jesus – “Shout Jesus from the mountains, Jesus in the streets.” This song is a literal act of evangelism. It encourages believers to speak the name of Jesus over their cities and families, breaking the silence that often surrounds our faith.
  2. Mighty To Save – “Shine your light and let the whole world see.” This Hillsong classic is a prayer for global impact. It asks God to use the church to be a city on a hill, singing for the glory of the risen King.
  3. Light Of The World (Sing Hallelujah) – “Light of the World, treasure of Heaven.” Evangelism is simply pointing people to the Light. This song celebrates the beauty of Jesus and His ability to pierce through the darkest night.
  4. Build My Life – “Lead me in Your love to those around me.” The bridge of this song is a specific prayer for evangelism. It asks God to give us His heart for the people we interact with every day.
  5. Great Are You Lord – “All the earth will shout Your praise.” We share the Gospel because we want God to be glorified. This song looks forward to the end goal of missions: the whole earth shouting the praise of Jesus.
  6. This Is Amazing Grace – “Who brings our chaos back into order… the King of Glory.” The Gospel is the story of grace. This song summarizes the message we are called to share: that Jesus took our place and bore our cross.
  7. All Hail King Jesus – “Throughout the earth we sing Your praises.” Evangelism is announcing the King. This song is a bold proclamation of Jesus’ Lordship over every nation and tongue.

  2. Mighty To Save – The call to shine.
  3. Build My Life – The prayer for others.

Setlist 2 (The Proclamation)

  1. This Is Amazing Grace – The message.
  2. I Speak Jesus – The delivery.
  3. All Hail King Jesus – The result.

How To Use These Songs In Your Church

  • The “Dismissal.” Use Mighty To Save as the final song of the service. Challenge the congregation that as they leave the building, “the service is over, but the worship (service) is just beginning.”
  • Pray for names. During Build My Life (“Lead me in your love”), ask everyone to think of one person—a neighbor or coworker—who doesn’t know Jesus, and pray for an opportunity to share with them this week.
  • Missions focus. If you are supporting missionaries or a short-term trip, Great Are You Lord is the perfect backdrop for commissioning them. It connects their specific trip to the global glory of God.

Next Steps

We are the plan A; there is no plan B. This Sunday, use I Speak Jesus to embolden your church to take the name of Jesus out of the sanctuary and into the streets.
